Pop Culture Denim Influencers

CONFIDENTIAL | I’m currently working on a project where I will celebrate those in pop culture and their influence on why we now all wear denim today. At Textil Museet, the national Museum of Textiles in Sweden from this October will show a number of the portrait with the same question I am posing you were people can suggest who should be in the final piece.

These are your personal choices but I want you to think about how the person wearing jeans changed this material from that of the workers in the fields and mines to everyday urban wear. It could be from the cowboy actors, 50’s rebels, the punks and so on - I want to get your input to make the final decision who makes it in, and made in denim.

Think about

  • Did the icon being seen in jeans result in countless others to replicate the look?

  • Did they start or elevate a trend?

  • Especially known for denim and jeans?

  • I’ve taken four obvious and always documented iconic names out to get a wider range of names. Dean, Brando, Monroe and Elvis.
